Volume 1, Issue 3

Merry Meet! Finally the much delayed August Edition of Amairgen’s Faithweb News! I have been making a lot of changes recently, and among my plans are a lot of new material to be added to the site in the coming month and a secret project that you will be hearing more about later. I have gotten TONS of letter asking where I have been, so for those of you who didn’t know I was in Prince Edward Island and Cape Breton, Nova Scotia for a month! I had a wonderful time in both places and brought back buckets of stones and shells and various other wonderful souvenirs! Among my favorite’s is a book I picked up in Summerside, at Coles Bookstore. I’m sure nearly everyone is familiar with the name Silver Ravenwolf... (see www.silverravenwolf.com ) and her many well written books dealing with the craft and various related topics. I finally got my hands on TEEN WITCH, and I absolutely adore it. I recommend the book to ANYONE new to the craft or not, regardless of age. It makes for easy reading I truly enjoyed it.

This Month's Site Reviews

Omphalos

I hear this site recently suffered some sort of crash, but in spite of that, on all of my visits I have found the site FULL of great material and links. A very useful site for anyone looking for specific information, I can nearly guarantee this page will have something to offer! Go There

Medieval Sourcebook

A great page for historical information on the craft. Complete with quotes from “The Witches Hammer” or Maleus Malificarum, this site will not let you down. Excellent for research, or enjoyment. Go There

Special Feature

The Goddess 2000 Project

This is one of my favorite finds ever. The page is devoted to inspiring all manner of goddess worshipers to unite and bring forth an outpouring of Goddess devoted art to start the millennium. I myself am planning to take part in this project and I strongly urge everyone to check it out. Go there

New Submission

In the last newsletter I requested submissions of articles, artwork, poetry, recipes and any other creative input anyone has to offer, and one girl responded. The author of the following short essay is a 14 year old girl living in eastern Canada, who wanted to share with us what the craft means to her.

What Wicca Is...... By: Lakyn

Wicca is the worship of the Lord and Lady. An old religion that has lasted the test of time, and continues on. We don’t follow the traditions of others, we have our own path. We feel that people should be free to believe in whatever they feel called to, be it our religion or another. Some people put us down. People are afraid of things they don’t understand. Most Wiccans would never harm any person or animal, these are true Wiccans. There are people who say they are wiccan but do not follow the laws of the craft, and it is people like that who make it hard for the rest of us. For me, Wicca is a religion and a lifestyle, to worship the goddess, the earth, our home, our piece of the life force. What’s so scary about that?

A Quiet Place By: Darwyyn

There is nothing quite like the smell of fresh coffee in the early hours of the morning. Sitting in front of my little cabin watching wave after wave lap gently on the shore as the early morning mist hovers over the glassy surface of the lake, throwing the trees on the opposite shoreline into towering rugged silhouettes. The birds, always the early risers sing merrily and flit from tree to tree watching me warily while hunting for breakfast. This is their land. I am a foreigner. I am unfamiliar with the culture and the language of the place. My untrained eye can appreciate only a fraction of the beauty here, and yet even that is overwhelming. The smell of the salt water and wild flowers sharply contrasted by brewed coffee dances around my nostrils teasingly. The hazy mystical fog lies over everything and the damp cool breeze caresses my cheeks. The sharp outlines of conifers and liquid slope of the hills frame the water where a lone boat bumps gently against the old wharf, reminding my that all too soon this magickal sojourn will end. That I will return to my own world, that of firm realities and man laid laws, of white noise and disruption, the ever present hectic rat race and the cold stab of a world with little time for beauty.
